Marmion Academy honors top athletes.(Neighbor) - Daily Herald (Arlington Heights, IL)

Marmion Academy honored the 203 athletes (44 percent of the student body) that participated in fall sports at the fall sports convocation.

Suburban Catholic Conference all-conference and all-sectional players were recognized and the top athletes in each sport were honored.

The cross country team, 2004 conference champions, honored senior Brandon Ritchey of Batavia with the team's achievement award.

Sophomore runner Dave Grange of Wheaton was recognized as the conference runner of the year. Ritchey and Grange were both named first team all-conference and junior Andrew Hebert of Bristol and freshman Josh Stein of Batavia made the second all-conference team.

Academic all-conference honors went to seniors Timothy Keefe of Aurora, Michael Nothnagel of Batavia, Brandon Ritchey of Batavia and junior Benjamin Schmidt of Elburn.

The football team honored junior Ryne Reder of Aurora with the Amby Geib memorial achievement award. Senior Cory Walker of Yorkville was honored with the Pat Schuster memorial most dedicated player award. Reder, Walker and senior Scott Kulakowski of North Aurora were named all-conference players.

Academic all-conference honors went to seniors Elliot Lauzen of Aurora and James McAnelly of Aurora and sophomore Jacob Walker of Yorkville.

The golf team honored freshman Luke Kolquist of Geneva with the Brother Leo memorial achievement award. Kolquist, a sectional qualifier, was named to the all-conference team.

Academic all-conference honors went to junior Robert Fitzsimmons, Jr. of Geneva.

The soccer team honored senior all-state player Eric Hermosillo of Batavia with the team's achievement award. Hermosillo was also named the 2004 conference player of the year.

All-conference honors went to seniors Hermosillo, Chris Shouse of Aurora, Mike Schuenemann of Plano and Tim Studlo of Batavia. Shouse and Studlo were also named all-sectional players. Academic all-conference honors went to junior Michael Palmeri of St. Charles.
